No longer a secret, its new location puts it in proximity to everything in el Centro, and the ghost of La Morena’s good vibes echo through at night.
It is very, very pretty and the air-conditioning works very, very well. And let’s just be real, it’s kind of sexy in this joint.

Calypso began as a food truck, that is now parked outside the restaurant and the only sign that you’re in the right spot. The food is flavorful and the restaurant cozy and delicious, it’s lovely to see the evolution of something that we loved when we sat on the sidewalk eating away to now!

The Sky Lounge is a hidden gem, in plain sight. It’s a mellow vibe with a lap pool and incredible sunset views over the palm trees of the ocean

We loved their original location in the historic district, because truth be told it was a great place to hide from the masses during high season. The food, drink and service in their new location downtown is still as legit as ever!

Unassuming and always tasty, this spot is open 6 days a week morning to night. They’ve recently started live music on Friday evenings as well!
This place is perennially packed with locals and visitors alike, so that’s always a good sign.

Wednesdays is the farmers & crafts market, afternoons are for live music…we suggest ordering before the yoga class next at Cuatro Vientos ends, otherwise prepare for a bit of a wait.
Tiki was a simple bar with a sand floor, football on the TV, dogs wandering about, incredible cocktails, lovely staff and the freshest catch that goes into aguachile and ceviche…now it is a discovered gem that you’ll be thrilled to score a parking spot for!

Kata is great sashimi inspired by Baja Sur with a few Asian-inspired cooked dishes in two locations in Pescadero.
It is easy to cruise past this highway roadstop, but don’t. Nestled beyond the unassuming facade is a courtyard with delicious and beautifully plated Baja Med dishes.

Places like Palmar make us so friggin’ happy to live here! It’s a family-run cafe + bed & breakfast…three generations of fierce females run the joint.
In our minds, this place is what Mexico thinks of an American diner. The coffee is strong, the food is solid, and if you asked us, we would say the Bistec Ranchero and Rajas Poblanos can’t be beat.

La Garropa is one of those sleeper hits; delicious fresh fish prepared simply—hidden in plain sight right on Cerritos Beach.
A SportsBar that sits on the beach with a well-used volleyball court right in front. Yup, that does live up to the name.
Happy hour, music, and fish tacos while watching the groms in their surf lessons? Sign me up.
Oh Same Same…how we love you and your relaxed surfer vibes. If you go early, you’ll run into everyone coming off Dawn Patrol, a little later the mom’s roll-in after school drop-off. The coffee is awesome, the food menu is simple and super tight, the views are exceptional, and their artwork, surfboards, and ceramics for purchase are swoon-worthy.
About as Baja as Baja gets; from the newest outpost ON THE BEACH at Cerritos with strong drinks, live music on the regular, and a simply killer menu of tacos and ceviche.
