FIELD TRIP: San Jose del Cabo

presented by THE CO-OP BAJA

When you need to change the vibe, run some errands, or just see what else there is to find on this tip of the peninsula, San Jose del Cabo is one of our favorite field trips. And the truth is, it’s a solid weekend escape as well. Use these tips to get you going, and then find your own corners to discover…and feel free to share them!

Ruba's Bakery

Air-conditioning, delicious food, hidden nooks, and flexible hours…there’s really nothing to not love about Ruba’s Bakery. The Cubano Sandwich is giant and worth the wait.

Coffee Lab

Coffee Lab has multiple locations and the coolest little bar with great events…our favorite of the locations is La Playita in the Puerto Los Cabos neighborhood by the Marina. But you can’t really go wrong with the coffee, food, cocktails or vibe.

Lumbre

We’re a sucker for open-fire cooking, and so if you’re the same and looking for a great dinner experience, we think Lumbre is the move.

Acre Resort

Acre is an oasis, which is a good thing to know as you start wondering if you are heading in the right direction. Follow the road signs, Google gets a little confused. It’s open for lunch or dinner, there’s a pool pass for daytime fun, the treehouses are wonderful overnight options and the dog rescue means you can spend some time snuggling puppies! And if you’re visiting, sign up as a flight volunteer and you can escort a puppy to it’s new home!

Clandestina Bar

Every once in awhile you may want to enter into a place that offers an escape from Baja Sur, Clandestine is it.

Let’s go shopping! And then get a massage! And then maybe go lie down and stay the night…

Quiero Recordings

It’s like hanging out with your best friend listening to records and reminiscing; if your best friend was a sweet Argentinian DJ who also teaches mixing. Tell Leonides we say hi.

Gypsy Soul House

Day spa, here we come! It’s located right in the center of town, and yet is a sweet little escape. The staff are hospitable and skilled, the salon is air-conditioned and serene and there’s great packaged retreats to dive into.

el Ganzo Hotel

Puerto Los Cabos is our favorite hideaway, close enough to San Jose to eat well and far enough for ocean breezes and a quiet lull. Except when El Ganzo is hosting events, then it feels like all of Baja Sur has arrived. El Ganzo is a scene, yes. But the rooms are spacious, face the ocean, giant beds and bathtubs in the middle of most. Add in rotating artists-in-residency, and you have a full vibe shake up that will have you back in Todos Santos refreshed and reinvigorated
