What’s this crazy thing about anyway

Well, it’s a pretty simple story actually. Two friends meet in a sleepy beach town in Baja Sur during the pandemic. Both are hospitality veterans from the U.S. who’ve chosen to relocate to Todos Santos for a little while for different reasons. And well, since like everyone else we were probably drinking too much during the pandemic, we decided to put our drinking time to good use and create an online destination for food recommendations. Mostly because over a bottle of rose, or perhaps a few G&T’s, there were many discussions about where in town to find the best pizzas, tacos, ceviche, birria…you get the idea. It also befuddled us how few Americans living or vacationing in the area knew about these remarkable destinations.

At the time, Google Maps hadn’t yet gotten up to speed and so directions here still went like this, “When you see the big cactus, after the dirt road takes a sharp right and there’s that pothole”…you get the idea. But Google is more up to speed and businesses are using Instagram to shout their wares, so we’re pivoting again. (Side bar: does anyone actually like to hear the word pivot anymore? I’m pretty annoyed I just used it myself…I digress.)

So now The Chocolate Clam, a cheeky reference to the seafood delicacy indigenous to this area, is all about our favorite recommendations, how to contact them for their real hours so you don’t bug us, and perhaps over a few more happy hours there will be some fun new features added. Or not. We might just let it languish here…but what are the chances that two A-type know-it-alls let that happen? I know. I thought so too.
